「1962 April 11, 5h 40m. / The Sky was calm and clear. Surface markings in visible / due to the incessant distorsion of the disk. The sharpness / of the disk boundary improved rapidly with increasing / altitude of Mars, however after sunrise, the briteness / of the background sky abolished the image. / Ls=245°. Diameter=4.27". Ds=-22°, De=-24°. CM=34.5°. / After ephemeral calculation of the central meridian, / it was known that the darkness of the central part of / the disk may be identified with Margaritifer- Aurorae / Sinus.」
